FAQ’s

  • What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy is a non-invasive technique to help reduce pain and inflammation. This pain relief treatment is FDA cleared and enables patients to have an non-invasive alternative to drugs and surgery. Laser therapy can be used to treat acute and chronic conditions. The treatments last between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on the condition being treated. During treatment, patients feel a soothing warmth that identifies the beginning of an 18-24 hour process of modulated cellular activity leading to decreased pain and inflammation. Laser therapy treatments must be administered directly to skin, as laser light cannot penetrate through layers of clothing. LiteCure Medical lasers work by flooding the injured tissue with photons, which energizes cells and increases circulation to the area, ultimately reducing pain. Laser therapy allows the body to utilize it’s own healing powers by inducing a series of healing responses in the body. Results can be immediate but the most observed results are after 3-5 treatment sessions. Light force laser therapy is utilized by USA Track/Field, USA Basketball, MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA, WBNA and throughout collegiate sports to reduce recovery times and get their athletes back in action and performing at their optimal level.

  • Who is Laser Therapy For?

First Rehab integrates laser therapy as part of our overall physical therapy treatment plans. The most immediate effect we see in our treatments is pain reduction, especially in post surgical patients and those with neck and back pain. Laser treatments also help reduce muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and overall flexibility. It is not uncommon for us to do a laser treatment prior to a patient having his shoulder passively stretched post-surgically by a therapist. Other times, we use the laser on a patient who has had a knee replacement prior to having them ride a stationary bicycle. Patients with chronic pain can often take advantage of laser treatments as an alternative to pain medicines.

  • How Much Does it Cost?

We do offer laser therapy treatments on a stand-alone basis for $25/session. There are suggested protocols we generally follow for clients who are not receiving physical therapy and only want laser treatments.
